Business Intelligence Data Architect

  • The Business Intelligence Data Architect plays a pivotal role in translating complex business requirements into data models that align with industry best practices and client guidelines.
  • They will be responsible for developing the logical data model based on the understanding of the conceptual model and conducting data profiling with the objective of delivering high-quality data models within standards defined by industry, client, and Lumiq.
  • Collaborating with the Lead Data Modeler / Architect, they analyze requirements and create a clarification list if required.
  • Based on an understanding of the business processes, they define data requirements, map KPIs to the conceptual model, and validate it with Manager, SMEs, etc.
  • They create a logical model capturing the descriptions of entities, tables, columns, etc. based on the conceptual model and create tables and relationships between them.
  • Mapping conceptual to the logical model ensures coverage and identifies the entities and their properties.
  • They define the attributes and domain data types.
  • For small and simple projects, they create a physical model based on functional non-functional requirements.
  • Seeking review inputs from the Lead Manager Architect on the logical and physical model is also part of their responsibilities.
  • Defining the data dictionary business glossary based on the model developed, if required, is another key responsibility.
  • Ensuring data quality through the definition of the data governance model is crucial.
  • Interacting with SMEs architects to validate whether the data model is aligned with the technology suggested for the project is essential.
  • Participating in Data Model Health Assessments is also a requirement.
  • Assisting Sr. Data Modeler in the creation of questionnaires, analyzing the AS-IS data model for data structure conformance to industry standards, best practices, making recommendations for solution roadmaps is also necessary.
  • Providing technical guidance to the design development team in understanding the data is a critical skill.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A very good knowledge of Dimensional Relation Data Modeling.
  • At least 7+ years of Data Modeling experience working in large databases.
  • Working on ERWIN DeZign etc modelling tool is expected.
  • Knowledge in RDBMS Concepts, Data Analysis, good SQL knowledge is required.
  • Should be technically strong in relational databases, able to provide design approaches.
  • Prior experience in working in a large Enterprise Data Warehouse is expected.
  • Experience in Banking, Health, Life Insurance domains is preferable.
  • Ability to coordinate and explain with business users to get the requirements is crucial.
  • Should have very good clear communication skills.
  • Should have experience of working in an Onsite-offshore model.
  • Experience of working in projects involving multiple time zones onsite-offshore models and with multiple vendors is beneficial.
  • Excellent written verbal communication skills are required.
