Accounts Payable Specialist

Our company is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Corporate Finance team. As an integral part of the team, you will be responsible for managing accounts payable and receivable functions, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process invoices in a timely and accurate manner, verifying vendor information and payment details.
  • Monitor and analyze accounts payable transactions to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and distribute regular financial reports, including expense summaries and aging reports.
  • Maintain and manage relationships with vendors, addressing any payment issues or discrepancies promptly.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial data by maintaining and updating the accounts payable ledger.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounts payable operations.
  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations and standards, including tax compliance for payable transactions.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
  • QuickBooks experience.
  • Knowledge of Canadian taxes – HST, PST, PD7A, ROE.
  • Experience with Canadian full-time employees – Federal Tax, Provincial Tax, CPP, EI.
  • Experience with vendor payments.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic corporate environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
