Automotive Interior Components Engineer Role

About the Role

This position is within the Door Trim - Door Trims, Tailgate Trims, Door Claddings, Pillar Capping, Finishers team. The successful candidate will lead the engineering design, technical development, and delivery of Interior components for new or ongoing programs through to launch at the manufacturing plant.

The role involves managing the commodity plan to quality, cost, and time, including maintaining the Worldwide Engineering Release System. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and developing door trim components, soft and hard trims, tailgate trims, door claddings, pillar capping, and finishers.
  • Ensuring compatibility with A-surfaces for technical feasibility, surrounding component packaging, and vehicle attribute teams.

The ideal candidate should have experience in leading business, technical, and process issues within a project team environment. Knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, product definition, and change management processes is essential.

A good understanding of automotive Body Cabin systems, plastic & Sheet metal materials, Design rules, Bill of design, Bill of Process, DFMEA, DVP, DFM, Part & assembly level tests is required. Experience in using CATIA V5 & V6 is also necessary. Excellent communications skills and ability to communicate at all levels are must-haves.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical/Production/Automotive Engineering.
  • Previous experience in leading projects within the automotive sector.
  • Successful history of delivery within the industry.
