Database Administrator

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy and maintain MongoDB/Atlas database projects.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of database design, architecture, and setups.
  • Establish procedures for backup, recovery, and disaster recovery.
  • Administer MongoDB to achieve maximum availability and performance.
  • Design and implement sharding and indexing strategies for MongoDB.
  • Configure and monitor replica sets.
  • Perform patch upgrades.
  • Design and build operational infrastructure to support databases, automating where possible.
  • Establish database security procedures.
  • Create users, assign roles, and manage permissions.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and standards.
  • Provide support to the user community using incident problem management tools.

This role requires a strong understanding of MongoDB administration, database design, and software development. The ideal candidate will have experience with cloud-based services, scripting languages, and DevOps practices.

The selected candidate will work closely with the development team to ensure seamless integration of the database with other applications.

Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Expert-level knowledge of MongoDB administration, including deployment, maintenance, and security.
  • Strong understanding of database design principles and software development methodologies.
  • Experience with cloud-based services, such as Atlas, and scripting languages.
  • Proficiency in DevOps practices and tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with development teams to integrate databases with other applications.

Education and Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Professional certifications in MongoDB administration or related fields.
