Internal Auditor Role

Redefine risk management and internal controls in a rapidly evolving industry.

The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in evaluating the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls, and governance processes across various operations.

  • Evaluate and improve operational, compliance, and financial processes to ensure seamless execution.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of internal control systems to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement effective process assurance and risk mitigation strategies.

This role requires hands-on expertise in concurrent audits, gold audits, RBI compliance reviews, and process assurance within the Banking/NBFC domain.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Plan, execute, and report on internal audits covering operational, compliance, and financial processes.
  2. Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal control systems.
  3. Identify control weaknesses and suggest improvements.
  4. Review control over cash flow, accounting, investments, and loan approvals/disbursements.
  5. Verify accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  6. Review revenue recognition, interest income, and provisioning policies.
  7. Check alignment of financial reports with accounting standards and regulatory norms.
  8. Monitor loan portfolio performance related processes, including NPA identification, provisioning norms, and recovery actions.
  9. Review day-to-day operations including customer on boarding, KYC compliance, and transaction monitoring.
  10. Audit processes in departments like HR, Finance, IT, Legal, and Collections.
  11. Ensure systems and procedures are being followed consistently.
  12. Conduct concurrent audits of branches, gold loan operations, disbursal's, and collections.
  13. Perform gold audits – valuation checks, purity verification, vault & custody audits.
  14. Ensure RBI regulatory compliance audits, including KYC, AML, Fair Practice Code, and reporting timelines.
  15. Identify control gaps, fraud risks, and process deviations; recommend corrective actions.
  16. Track closure of audit observations and ensure timely follow-ups.
  17. Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, and Business teams to strengthen internal controls.
  18. Present periodic audit findings and dashboards to senior management.
  19. Assist in preparing for regulatory inspections (RBI/NHB, etc.) and external audits.
  20. Maintain strong knowledge of Banking/NBFC regulatory environment, RBI guidelines, and industry best practices.

Requirements:

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) Pref or Post Graduate in Finance/Commerce.
  • 8–10 years of experience in internal audit within Banking/NBFC sector.
  • Proven expertise in concurrent audits, gold audits, and RBI audits.
  • Strong understanding of Banking /NBFC operations, gold loan processes, KYC/AML compliance.
  • Hands-on experience in fraud detection, process reviews, and risk control assessments.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and engage with senior leadership.
