Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Head of Department - Textile Design Prints to lead our design team in creating innovative, high-quality textile prints that align with market trends and brand vision.

About the Role:

This is a strategic leadership position responsible for overseeing and guiding the design team to develop original artwork and print patterns from concept through to production. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of textile printing techniques, including digital and rotary printing, and be able to drive creativity and efficiency across all stages of the design process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Management:
    • Lead and supervise the research of emerging design trends to enhance the creative output of the department.
    • Oversee the creation of mood boards and design concepts to ensure they align with market trends and customer expectations.
    • Direct the creation and execution of textile print designs, ensuring they meet high aesthetic, quality, and production standards.
    • Liaise with mills and suppliers to ensure effective communication and production according to specifications.
  • Team Leadership and People Management:
    • Manage the design team to ensure clear communication, efficient workflows, and a collaborative environment.
    • Mentor junior designers to provide guidance on technical and creative aspects of textile print design.
  • Strategic and Financial Oversight:
    • Ensure the design department operates efficiently while maintaining quality and creative excellence.
    • Contribute to budget planning and optimizing resources across design projects.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will possess a proven track record in textile design, specifically in creating prints and patterns, and have a strong portfolio showcasing original, high-quality designs. Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, and other relevant design tools is essential, as well as a deep understanding of textile printing techniques and demonstrated leadership experience.
