Job Overview

Data Governance Specialist

This role involves overseeing the data governance framework for a specific domain, ensuring adherence to principles and standards.

The Data Governance Specialist will work closely with stakeholders to operationalize the Enterprise data governance framework, aligning their data needs with quality, access controls, compliance, and master data management.

They will partner with business teams to identify compliance requirements with data privacy, security, and regulatory policies, delivering data foundations jointly with technology teams and enterprise teams.

  • Ensure effective execution of the data governance framework within a designated domain.
  • Operationalize the Enterprise data governance framework, collaborating with stakeholders to meet their data needs.
  • Develop strong relationships with key business leads and partners to ensure their needs are met.
  • Work with Enterprise MDM and Reference Data to enforce standards and promote cross-functional alignment within domains.
  • Maintain documentation on data definitions, standards, flows, legacy structures, common models, and harmonization for assigned domains.
Key Skills and QualificationsMust-Have Skills:
  • Advanced technical skills in SQL and Python, with knowledge of pharma processes and specialization in a domain (e.g., Research, Clinical Trials, Commercial).
  • Experience working with or supporting systems used in data governance frameworks, e.g., Collibra, Alation.
  • General knowledge of data management, common data models, metadata management, data quality, master data management, data stewardship, and data protection.
  • Experience with data products development life cycle, including enablement of data dictionaries and business glossary.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to work effectively with internal stakeholders and external service partners.
Good-to-Have Skills:
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies (Scrum).
