Lead Database Migration Specialist

About the Role:

Take charge of database migration across data centers and cloud platforms as a seasoned Oracle DBA with migration expertise.

The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on experience in Oracle Exadata and Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer (ExaCC) environments, including backup/recovery, replication, and monitoring with excellent leadership and project management skills to ensure successful migrations, minimal downtime, and seamless delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the end-to-end migration lifecycle from assessment to post-migration optimization.
  • Develop and implement migration strategies, methodologies, and best practices for zero/near-zero downtime and high availability/disaster recovery.
  • Design and execute Oracle database migrations across various setups, including data center-to-data center, AWS-to-AWS, Azure-to-Azure, Oracle Exadata, and Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer environments.
  • Perform comprehensive database backup and recovery using Rubrik for backup orchestration and recovery, RMAN for backup/restore operations, incremental syncs, and point-in-time recovery.
  • Implement delta data synchronization strategies for near-zero downtime migration.
  • Utilize Oracle Enterprise Manager for database performance monitoring, health checks, proactive alerting, migration tracking, and validation.
  • Develop and implement data purging and archival strategies to optimize database size and performance pre/post-migration.

Must-Have Skills:

  • 10+ years of Oracle Database experience, with 5+ years in leadership/managerial roles overseeing database migration programs.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale Oracle migrations in multi-cloud, Exadata, and ExaCC environments.
  • Strong experience with Oracle Exadata administration, migration, and performance tuning, Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer implementation and management, Oracle Data Guard setup, switchover, failover, and role transitions, Rubrik for backup, restore, and DR integration, RMAN for backup/recovery, OEM for monitoring and migration validation, and cloud-native database solutions in AWS and Azure.
  • Experience in data purging, retention policies, and compliance for regulated environments.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, performance tuning, and problem-resolution skills, particularly in Exadata/ExaCC environments.
