Terraform Automation Engineer

We're seeking a skilled Terraform automation professional with expertise in Cisco SD-WAN deployments. This is a remote opportunity that involves freelancing work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review Terraform codebase for Cisco SD-WAN deployments across multiple data centers and branch offices to ensure efficient management practices are implemented.
  • Assess configuration templates, policies, automation workflows, and state management strategies to identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide recommendations on best practices and deliver a comprehensive review report detailing findings.
  • Conduct remote knowledge transfer sessions with the client's technical team to facilitate seamless collaboration.

Requirements:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Terraform (modules, variables, templates, IaC workflows) to develop and maintain complex infrastructure configurations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Cisco SD-WAN components (vManage, vSmart, vBond, device templates, policies) to effectively design and implement network architectures.
  • Ability to evaluate and optimize state management strategies (remote backends, locking, workspaces) to enhance performance and scalability.
  • Experience integrating Terraform with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (Git/Azure DevOps) to streamline development and deployment processes.
  • Familiarity with network automation best practices and SD-WAN deployment models to ensure alignment with industry standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and analytical skills to resolve complex issues and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills for remote collaboration and client interaction to build strong relationships.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in Infrastructure Automation / Network Automation engineering roles with a proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Terraform in production environments with a focus on scalability and reliability.
  • Practical experience with Cisco SD-WAN automation, templates, and policies to drive business outcomes.
  • Prior exposure to enterprise-scale multi-site WAN deployments to understand complex networking requirements.
