About the Role

We're seeking a seasoned Java professional to join our team as a backend developer.

This role involves designing and implementing microservices using modern Java functional programming concepts, collaborating on event-driven systems, and participating in code reviews and design discussions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable microservices using modern Java functional programming techniques.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop event-driven systems using Kafka and apply architectural patterns like Choreography, Strangler, and Sidecar.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Develop and deploy applications in cloud environments using services like Cloud Run and GKE.
  • Write clean, testable, and maintainable code with emphasis on readability and scalability.
RequirementsCore Skills

We require strong proficiency in the following areas:

  • Deep understanding of Java Streams, Functional Interfaces, Lambda expressions, Supplier, Consumer, Function, and reduce operations.
  • Experience with newer Java features (preferably Java 17+; familiarity with Java 21 is a plus).
  • Proficiency in immutable data structures, pure functions, and clean code principles.
Microservices & Architecture

We expect a solid foundation in the following:

  • Strong knowledge of microservices design patterns including:
  • Choreography (Kafka-based)
  • Strangler Pattern
  • Sidecar Pattern
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka or other message brokers in an Event-Driven Architecture (EDA).
Cloud & DevOps

A basic understanding of the following is necessary:

  • Hands-on experience deploying applications in cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with Cloud Run, GKE, or equivalents in other clouds.
  • Understanding of deployment automation, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD best practices.
