About the Role
- Fulfill customer service requests for mainframe z/OS customers in a timely manner as they pertain to Mainframe DB2 database and related products.
- Provide primary support for reported problems related to DB2 and related software products.
- Provide key support for customer migration services (new customer transitions) as they pertain to DB2 and related OEM software products.
- Provide primary support for reported problems related to DB2 table spaces.
- Communicate to both customer and management the status of issues at intervals during the resolution process.
Responsibilities
- Maintain documentation of issue cause, action, and resolution in the designated problem tracking system.
- Assist the assigned project manager in the migration of newly acquired customers, ensuring that all technical hurdles are addressed in a timely manner and do not impede the expected progress of the transition or the targeted migration date.
- Work jointly with the Disaster Recovery Services and other technical teams to successfully execute tasks associated with any given customer's disaster recovery plans.
- Adhere to a schedule that efficiently manages resources and allows for timely implementations.
- Follow ITSM change control procedures.
Experience Level
5 to 8 years of experience.
Mandatory Skills
- Bachelor's degree required and/or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of professional experience in DB2 for administration and systems programming support. CA and IBM tools for DB2 are a plus.
- Experience in building new DB2 subsystem environments.
- Experience with configuring and managing DB2 in a parallel sysplex, DB2 Datasharing environments.
- Ability to develop innovative strategies, processes, and best practices in software management.
- Experience with reviewing new versions of DB2 for functionality, advising on how they benefit the client.
- Ability to review DB2 security to identify potential risks.
- Experience with reorganizing application data.
- Experience with reviewing and tuning internal DB2 buffer pools and SQL code.
- Experience with supporting DB2 security requests.
- Support planned (disaster recovery) and unplanned (emergency) database recovery activities.
- Knowledgeable in best practices of software management, maintenance, and documentation.
- Experience with establishing policies and procedures pertaining to database management, DR, security, maintenance, and utilization.
- Ability to evaluate change requests and determine their impact on assigned clients and troubleshooting and solving production database issues.
- System programming knowledge of multiple Mainframe Database Management Systems is a bonus.

- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to respond quickly and effectively to support requests from multiple clients.
- Must be able to multi-task and work under short deadlines and in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentations).
- Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.
- Experience in installation/upgrade/customization of DB2 subsystem and related ISV software products.
- SMPE knowledge and experience.

1:30 PM to 10:30 PM IST.
