Job Description

Job Title: Technical Operations Specialist


About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Technical Operations Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving proactive continual improvement in our production environment through automation of manual work, monitoring improvements, and platform hygiene.

You will carry out technical analysis of the production platform to identify and remediate performance and resiliency issues. Additionally, you will engage in the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to enhance production standards and controls.

Maintaining all support documents and participating in Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and component failure tests based on these documents are also key responsibilities.


Your Skills and Expertise

To succeed in this role, you should have recent experience applying technical solutions to improve the stability of production environments.

  • Experience with Java and/or Tandem Mainframe technologies is required.
  • Familiarity with programming languages like Javascript and/or TACL, COBOL is essential.
  • Operating systems (Linux and/or Guardian) and the underlying infrastructure environments knowledge is necessary.
  • Online environment DAP & DWEB experience is beneficial.
  • Version control tools like GIT and/or RMS expertise is required.
  • Database environments (e.g., Oracle, Tandem Enscribe, SQL) understanding is crucial.
  • Utilities like Rsync and/or FUP knowledge is beneficial.
  • Middleware (e.g., MQ) expertise is essential.

A good understanding of ITIL Service Management framework such as Incident, Problem, and Change processes is also desirable.


Requirements
  • Service Operations experience within a global operations context is required.
  • 8+ years experience in IT in large corporate environments, specifically in the area of controlled production environments or in Financial Services Technology in a client-facing function is necessary.
  • Global Transaction Banking Experience is a plus.
  • Experience of end-to-end Level 2,3,4 management and good overview of Production/Operations Management overall is required.
  • Experience of run-book execution is essential.
  • Experience of supporting complex application and infrastructure domains is required.
  • IITIL/best practice service context is beneficial.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills are crucial.
  • Ability to work in virtual teams and in matrix structures is necessary.
  • Working knowledge of incident tracking tools (i.e., Remedy, Heat etc.) is beneficial.

Certification and Education

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in Computer Science or IT-related discipline (or equivalent work experience or diploma) is required.

ITIL Foundation Certificate is beneficial.
