IT Project Portfolio Governance Leader

Oversee the strategic direction and effective management of IT projects.

Lead a team of project managers and coordinators to ensure successful project execution.

  • Accountable for IT portfolio processes: planning, governance, methodology framework, and resource capacity management.
  • Ensure project management standards and practices across the IT project portfolio.
  • Supervise and mentor project managers, including performance reviews, career growth, and training.
  • Create staffing plans for internal and external resources; recommend long-term contractors or full-time additions.
  • Analyse project proposals to determine timelines, funding, and required processes.
  • Provide leadership and motivation to project teams throughout all phases.
  • Implement effective project communication, including steering committee meetings and status reports.
  • Manage project risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Align project goals with business objectives and manage delivery on time and within budget.
  • Employ agile/scrum methodologies within the organization's software development lifecycle framework.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field.
  • 7+ years' experience in project management of complex IT projects.
  • Deep understanding of agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Disciplined Agile, etc.).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Background in Business Analysis.
  • Proven experience managing an IT portfolio or PMO.
  • Prior team leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Experience managing external vendors and contract staff.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, engaging technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and meet goals, define schedules, allocate resources, and implement processes.
  • Strong ability to navigate ambiguity and bring clarity to teams.
