Job Overview

  • Independently analyze, assess, communicate, and document database vulnerabilities.
  • Coordinate with application teams as part of database remediation.
  • Independently assess risk and level of remediation effort.
  • Review and develop policies, standards, and best practices for continuous improvement.
Responsibilities

The Database Administration Advisor role is responsible for working with cross-functional teams utilizing database monitoring, vulnerability reporting, and remediation tools.

  • Familiarity with shell scripting, Python, and automation techniques.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms including Azure.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in high-pressure situations with good conflict management, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, adapt, and address issues in a timely fashion in an agile environment.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly across teams.
  • Ability to proactively identify and lead improvements to ensure security and stability in database environments.
  • Experience in shell scripting, Python, PowerShell, and automation techniques.
  • Experience with native database auditing options and Splunk.
  • Experience with external and internal audit response is a plus.
  • Cloud database experience including AWS, Postgres aurora, etc.

This role requires 5+ years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle database management with a working knowledge of other RDBMS platforms. Must have 10+ years of experience in Excel, Outlook, etc., and experience with database monitoring and vulnerability reporting tools.

A Bachelor's degree is required, and a Master's degree is preferred. The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
