**Job Description:**

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineering Leader to join our team. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will be responsible for leading a distributed team of engineers in the design and implementation of Ubuntu integration for the latest IoT and server-class hardware platforms and software stacks.

The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in Linux distributions, debian packaging, and high-performance server-class hardware. They will also possess excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience in managing or leading teams of software engineers.

The role requires collaboration with commercial partners to deliver a delightful and optimized Ubuntu experience on their platforms. This includes engaging with customers, resolving technical issues, interpreting business challenges, and effectively communicating how your solution will meet their needs.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of distributed engineers in the design and implementation of Ubuntu integration for the latest IoT and server-class hardware platforms and software stacks.
  • Collaborate with commercial partners to deliver a delightful and optimized Ubuntu experience on their platforms.
  • Develop and mentor team members through coaching, mentoring, and feedback.
  • Oversee commercial engagements and ensure timely delivery on agreed project milestones.
  • Ensure an ongoing commitment to strict quality and reliability standards.
  • Engage with other teams at Canonical to ensure alignment on product architecture and roadmaps.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong technical background in Linux distributions, debian packaging, and high-performance server-class hardware.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience in managing or leading teams of software engineers.
  • Understanding of agile software development methodologies.
  • Effective communications skills in English, both written and oral.
  • Bachelor's (or equivalent university level) degree, preferably in a technology field.
