Job Overview

The Senior Manager – Studio Operations & Production will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the in-house studio efficiently, handling e-commerce/catalog shoots to brand campaigns.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Daily Studio Operations
    • Task Planning and Management:
    • Plan, schedule, and manage daily catalog shoots in alignment with business priorities.
    • Studio Performance Tracking:
    • Track daily tasks and output of the studio team – photographers, editors, coordinators – to ensure targets are met.
    • Bottleneck Identification and Resolution:
    • Monitor studio throughput, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve turnaround times (TAT).
  • Team Leadership and Coordination:
    • Studio Team Management:
    • Lead and manage the studio photography team and post-production editing team (internal editors + external vendors).
    • Talent Allocation and Progress Monitoring:
    • Allocate tasks, monitor progress, and ensure smooth handoffs between production and post-production.
    • Culture Development:
    • Foster a collaborative, positive work atmosphere within the studio, working closely with the styling and creative teams to improve efficiency and output quality.
  • Vendor Relationship Management:
    • Negotiation and Contract Management:
    • Manage relationships with post-production vendors, production houses, agencies, and freelance talent (models, MUAs, stylists, etc).
    • Deliverable Tracking:
    • Negotiate contracts, track deliverables, and ensure vendors meet deadlines and quality benchmarks.
    • Vendor Database Maintenance:
    • Maintain a vetted vendor database and periodically assess performance.
  • Process Setup and Improvement:
    • SOP Establishment:
    • Establish SOPs for pre-production, shoot execution, post-production, and final asset delivery.
    • Workflow Optimization:
    • Implement efficient workflows to reduce shoot-to-upload time for e-commerce assets.
    • Asset Management:
    • Maintain asset management protocols for file naming, storage, backups, and archiving.
  • Quality Control:
    • Brand Consistency Checks:
    • Conduct on-set checks for brand consistency in photography and styling.
    • Post-Production Quality Assurance:
    • Oversee post-production QC – retouching, color correction, and final output approvals.
    • Compliance and Adherence:
    • Ensure all content adheres to brand guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Budget and Resource Management:
    • Budget Oversight:
    • Manage the studio budget, equipment procurement, and maintenance.
    • Resource Optimization:
    • Optimize resource usage for both in-house and outsourced work.
  • Reporting and Communication:
    • Status Updates:
    • Share weekly production and post-production status reports with the Creative Head.
    • Risk Flagging:
    • Flag risks and delays early, with proposed corrective actions.

Candidate Requirements:

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in studio or production operations, preferably in fashion, jewelry, or e-commerce.
  • A proven track record of team leadership across production and post-production functions.
  • Strong vendor management skills with experience in high-volume, multi-vendor environments.
  • Expertise in workflow optimization and throughput improvement.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • A calm demeanor under pressure with a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset.
