Job Title: Quality Assurance Specialist

This is a challenging and rewarding role for an experienced quality professional who wants to join our team in ensuring that our manufacturing processes meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in quality control and assurance, with experience in auditing and inspection procedures. They will also be proficient in statistical process control (SPC) and have a good understanding of ISO 9001 and other relevant industry standards.

The primary responsibilities of this role include conducting quality audits and inspections, developing and implementing quality control procedures, and providing training and support to production staff on quality-related issues.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex quality concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Some of the key qualifications for this role include:

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field
  • At least 3 years' experience in quality control and assurance, preferably in the manufacturing industry
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems and industry standards
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Key Responsibilities:

Quality System Development and Maintenance

Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS), including establishing and documenting procedures, work instructions, and standards that align with industry certifications like ISO 9001 or IATF 16949.

Ensure the machine shop is in compliance with all relevant regulations and customer requirements.

Quality Planning and Process Control

Play a central role in the planning phase of production, interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T, developing inspection plans, and implementing SPC.

Conduct First Article Inspection (FAI) and perform a thorough inspection of the first part produced in a new production run to ensure it meets all specifications before mass production begins.

Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions

Lead the investigation when a defect or non-conformance occurs, conducting root cause analysis and implementing Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).

Manage non-conforming materials, ensuring that defective parts are properly quarantined, dispositioned, and accounted for to prevent them from reaching the customer.

Inspection and Metrology

Conduct hands-on inspection of parts, requiring a deep understanding of metrology and proficiency with various measurement tools, including manual tools and advanced equipment.

Perform surface finish analysis using profilometers to ensure the surface roughness of parts meets specifications.

Continuous Improvement

Champion continuous improvement, analyzing quality data, identifying trends, and leading initiatives to enhance product quality and process efficiency.

Train machine operators and other staff on new quality procedures, standards, and the proper use of inspection equipment.
