Chief Sports Strategist

The role of a Director – Sports encompasses the strategic planning, development, and implementation of sports programs, physical education initiatives, and wellness projects across the institution. This position requires overseeing sports infrastructure, fostering student and staff participation in sports, nurturing athletic talent, and ensuring compliance with national and international sports standards.

• Develop and implement the overall vision, strategy, and policies for the sports department, driving its growth and success.
• Oversee sports programs, inter-collegiate tournaments, training camps, and physical education curriculum to ensure alignment with the institution's objectives.
• Manage sports facilities, gymnasiums, and grounds, prioritizing maintenance, utilization, and safety to create an optimal environment for athletes.
• Identify, recruit, and mentor talented athletes to represent the institution at various levels, recognizing their potential and providing guidance for their development.
• Collaborate with coaches, trainers, and faculty to promote a culture of fitness, sportsmanship, and excellence within the institution.
• Organize workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns on health, fitness, and sports to educate students, staff, and the broader community.
• Supervise and evaluate the performance of sports coaches and staff, ensuring they meet the institution's expectations and adhere to established standards.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, promoting ethical sports practices and minimizing risks associated with sports-related activities.
• Formulate and implement sports and physical education policies in accordance with UGC/AIU norms, ensuring the institution's adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Identify and groom talented sportspersons to represent the institution at zonal, national, and international levels, capitalizing on their abilities and expertise.
• Liaise with sports councils, federations, and UGC-recognized bodies to foster collaboration, participation, and mutual benefit.
• Optimize sports budgets, grants, and UGC funding to support sports activities, ensuring effective resource allocation and maximizing returns.
• Organize and supervise intra-mural, inter-college, and inter-university sports tournaments, creating engaging and competitive events that promote teamwork, camaraderie, and achievement.

• Possess a Ph.D. in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field, demonstrating expertise in sports administration, coaching, or management.
• Hold a minimum of 15 years of experience in sports administration, coaching, or sports management, showcasing leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Demonstrate a proven track record of managing large-scale sports events and teams, leveraging strengths and addressing challenges.
• Exhibit strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, effectively navigating complex situations and fostering collaborative relationships.
• Showcase knowledge of modern training methods, sports technology, and performance analytics, applying innovative approaches to enhance athlete performance and outcomes.
• Demonstrate a record of representing the university/college at inter-university / inter-collegiate competitions or State and/or National championships, highlighting achievements and experiences.
• Display knowledge of UGC, AIU, and national sports policies, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and best practices.
