Linux Software Repository Maintainer

We are seeking a skilled Linux software repository maintainer to ensure the integrity of our software repository through update, upgrade, and patch management.

This role focuses on technical expertise rather than system administration duties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage software repository updates, upgrades, and patches
  • Proficient in Linux, bash scripting, C, and Python programming languages
  • Compiling and creating software from source code, including knowledge of GCC and its flags
  • Knowledge of build system tools like Autotools, Meson, Ninja, CMake, Make, Pkg-Config, SCons, and Git
  • Maintaining software dependencies and keeping track of changes
  • Patching, providing, and managing software patches
  • Ability to understand and create Makefiles as necessary
  • Monitoring and staying current with CVEs (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures)
  • Maintaining Changelogs and other documentation
  • Providing bug fixes and debugging with GDB if needed
  • Reviewing changes and collaborating with upstream developers for issue resolution
  • Good troubleshooting skills and knowledge of Slackware Linux (preferably over RedHat/Debian)
Requirements:
  • Fluent English language skills with good verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines
