Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Optics Engineer to lead the development of our electron-optical column, source, lenses, detector coupling, and imaging quality for high-resolution performance.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the architecture and culture of a pioneering Scanning Electron Microscope platform in India. As part of the founding team, you will work hands-on to deliver reliable, high-resolution imaging with clean contrast across various use-cases.

Your Mission:
  • Architect and align the electron-optical column for high-resolution, low-drift performance, establishing practical tuning workflows for production and service.
  • Translate optics theory into tolerances, calibration routines, and alignment jigs that are repeatable outside the lab.
  • Collaborate with Electronics and Software teams to ensure deterministic beam control and expose intuitive imaging controls.
  • Build and maintain the calibration playbook - resolution, magnification, distortion - and train others to run it.
About You:
  • Deep experience in electron optics, including hands-on experience with alignment, vacuum hardware, and lab metrology.
  • Comfortable moving between modeling (your solver of choice), bench work, and factory documentation.
  • Clear communicator who can turn complex optics into simple, teachable procedures.
Key Requirements:
  • Consistent high-resolution images with minimal retuning.
  • Repeatable calibration across builds and over time.
  • Fast diagnosis and recovery when alignment drifts.

This role requires a skilled professional who can translate theoretical knowledge into practical applications, ensuring seamless collaboration among cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, enabling them to articulate complex concepts in an approachable manner.
