Senior Data Strategist _ Power BI Optimization

Your ideal role would be to lead data strategy and optimize our Power BI tenant environment.

  • Conduct an analysis of current usage patterns, workspace structure, and licensing in Power BI
  • Identify and document inactive or redundant workspaces to streamline operations
  • Create governance structures for workspace creation, ownership, access, and lifecycle management to ensure compliance
  • Craft custom reports and metrics using FUAM to provide monitoring insights and support informed decision-making
  • Collaborate with data teams to integrate telemetry data into Microsoft Fabric, enhancing lakehouses, pipelines, and semantic models
  • Develop reusable templates and processes for ongoing workspace monitoring and governance to maintain efficiency
  • Support stakeholder communication and training on workspace ownership and best practices
  • Deliver comprehensive documentation and handover plans at project completion
  • Provide expert guidance on defining and implementing reporting requirements for business units

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Degree in computer science, economics, or comparable field with certifications in Power Bi and Fabric
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Power BI, including administration and monitoring at a tenant level
  • Expertise in Power BI governance, lifecycle management, and security best practices

Proven expertise in working with Microsoft Fabric, particularly:

  1. Lakehouses
  2. Warehouses
  3. Pipelines
  4. Semantic Models
  • Experience with the Fabric Usage and Monitoring (FUAM) toolkit or similar telemetry frameworks
  • Strong skills in conceiving and developing innovative Business Intelligence solutions
  • Advanced SQL and DAX skills
  • Scripting and automation expertise (e.g., PowerShell, Python)
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines
