Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Programming Skills: Strong proficiency in Ruby (language fundamentals, idioms, metaprogramming)
  • Object-Oriented Programming (OOP): Deep understanding of OOP, mixins, blocks, procs, and lambdas
  • System Management: Familiarity with memory management, GC tuning, and performance profiling
  • Frameworks: Experience with frameworks like Ruby on Rails, Grape, ActiveRecord, ActiveJob, ActionCable, ActiveModel validations, Engines, initializers, routing, and lifecycle callbacks
  • Deployment: Comfortable deploying and optimizing Passenger, Thin
  • Database: Deeper understanding of Thread vs. process models, Connection handling, worker tuning, memory profiling
  • PostgreSQL: Proficient with PostgreSQL and advanced usage of ActiveRecord
  • Query Optimization: Experience optimizing N+1 queries, indexes, and query plans
  • Tools: Proficient with Bundler, Rake, Rubygems, Gem building and custom gem publishing
  • Environment Management: Knowledge of RVM, rbenv, chruby
