Executive Search Specialist

The role of Executive Search Specialist involves end-to-end delivery of retained search assignments, encompassing:

  • Leading research mapping, candidate engagement, and client relationship management
  • Managing existing relationships with key clients and ensuring we 'farm' these relationships well
  • Working on mandates from multiple industries, sectors, geographic regions, and in conjunction with other associates in joint assignments

Key Responsibilities Include:

Research Strategy
  • Prepare client presentations, anticipating client requirements and providing relevant information
  • Formulate research strategies to meet client requirements, specifying target companies and universes
  • Map the universe of a given assignment or product area for marketing
  • Take ownership of the research report, ensuring accurate names, companies, and biographical information
  • Help carry out due diligence on short-listed candidates and promote the company as an executive search provider
Knowledge Management Framework
  • Attend client pitches and contribute when necessary, writing proposal documents and job specifications
  • Write-up client-facing profiles following interviews, providing information to assess suitability
  • Research product areas, keeping abreast of new developments, changes, and key themes
  • Suggest speculative candidate ideas to consultants and develop a group of reliable sources
Data Integrity Management
  • Ensure accurate data entry on the database, correctly skill-coded and contact logs reflecting conversations and meetings
  • Save data efficiently and accessibly, adhering to minimum requirements
Assignment Execution
  • Interview candidates in a professional manner, arranging meetings and gathering feedback
  • Manage the candidate interview process, staying in continuous contact with shortlisted candidates
  • Be responsible for the desk when the consultant is travelling, covering queries from clients
Client Outreach and Communication
  • Network extensively via telephone with sources and candidates, mapping the universe and presenting opportunities
  • Pitch roles to candidates and sources, exercising judgement and developing probing skills
  • Speak with candidates and sources outside normal business hours, minimally spending 50% of the working day on the phone
Desk-Based Research and Analysis
  • Produce the client-facing research presentation, demonstrating a fully mapped universe and profiled candidates
  • Carve out top 10-15 shortlisted candidates, ensuring detailed biographies and CVs are available for review
  • Work proactively with consultants to prepare client pitches, including market/product analysis and competitor structures
  • Deliver Research & Advisory projects on topics such as perception analysis, compensation, diversity, and headcount
Candidate and Client Interaction
  • Attend candidate interviews with the consultant, taking detailed notes and demonstrating knowledge of product areas
  • Conduct solo candidate meetings with junior or middle-ranking executives, using open questions and adhering to correct protocol
  • Arrange candidate meetings with consultants and clients, creating a positive impression and contributing in meetings
Business Development Opportunities
  • Attend client pitches and support the consultant, staying alert to potential business development opportunities
  • Seek out gaps in mappings and alert the consultant, understanding practice group track records and clients
  • Stay informed about consultant work in developing clients and keep abreast of activity in the practice group
