Leadership Opportunity: Drive Engineering Excellence

The Head of Engineering is a pivotal leader responsible for overseeing all engineering activities from conceptualization to commissioning.

This role requires extensive experience in heavy industrial projects, particularly in the steel sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an overall engineering strategy that aligns with project goals, budget, and schedule.
  • Lead the conceptual design, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering phases.
  • Manage EPC contractors, consultants, and vendors effectively.
  • Evaluate and optimize plant designs across multiple disciplines.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant national and international codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Oversee review and approval processes for engineering deliverables.
  • Implement robust quality control procedures.
  • Drive value engineering initiatives to reduce costs and improve performance without compromising safety or quality.
  • Manage project schedules and budgets proactively.
  • Collaborate with procurement, construction, and operations teams for seamless project execution.
  • Resolve technical issues and challenges during project phases.
  • Lead technical discussions and negotiations with suppliers and regulatory bodies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Metallurgical, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering preferred).
  • Minimum 20-25 years of progressive experience in engineering roles within heavy industrial projects, with at least 5-10 years in a leadership/head of engineering capacity for steel plant projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in the full lifecycle of greenfield or significant brownfield steel plant projects.
  • Proven experience in managing large, multi-disciplinary engineering teams and external consultants.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, including budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and quality control.
