Job Title: Credit Manager

We are seeking a seasoned Credit Manager with a proven track record in Australian mortgage underwriting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating home loan applications in accordance with Australian credit policies, ensuring high-quality decisions and effective collaboration with stakeholders.

The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of Australian credit policies and loan origination systems, as well as excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills. They will also be able to work effectively in fast-paced environments and meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate home loan applications based on Australian credit policy and guidelines.
  • Verify income, conduct credit checks, review property valuations, and assess lending requirements.
  • Liaise with brokers, lenders, and teams to clarify documentation gaps or provide additional information.
  • Make timely and high-quality credit decisions while meeting SLA and compliance standards.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, including NCCP and AML.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior underwriters and contribute to process improvements.
  • Prepare regular reports on pipeline, SLAs, and quality metrics.

Requirements:

  • Hold a graduate or postgraduate degree in finance, commerce, or a related field.
  • Have at least 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience, with 2-3 years in the Australian home loan domain.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Australian credit policies and loan origination systems.
  • Possess excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Be able to work effectively in fast-paced environments and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Hold certification in mortgage lending or credit assessment.
  • Have experience with various income types, including PAYG, self-employed, rental, and foreign income.
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of credit bureaus like Equifax.
  • Familiarity with verification tools used in the Australian mortgage ecosystem is beneficial.
