Job Title: Dam Safety Specialist

The role involves leading the preparation and finalization of Tier-I documents following national guidelines/manuals or international best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a subject matter expert for all tasks related to Dam Break Analysis and Inundation Mapping.
  • Prepare and finalize Tier-I documents adhering to standards from national guidelines/manuals or international best practices.
  • Provide technical support for the development and finalization of Emergency Action Plans (EAPs).
  • Facilitate stakeholder consultation meetings.
  • Review and finalize plans presented in Project Support Teams (PSTs).

Additional duties include conducting capacity building programs for DRIP Implementing Agencies (IAs), performing integrated flood routing studies for cascades of reservoirs, and undertaking need-based flood routing studies to determine routed floods for specific reservoirs. The specialist will also conduct dam safety inspections and manage related documentation and communication.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a post-graduate degree in Hydraulic or Hydrology.
  • At least 15 years of experience in hydrological and hydraulic modelling using MIKE, HEC_HMS, or other relevant advanced modelling tools.
  • Experience in preparing dam break analysis and inundation mappings for large dam projects.
