Key Responsibilities

This role involves identifying and addressing underlying risks in the Balance Sheet, providing insights to senior management, and ensuring the integrity of financial information.

  • Strategy: Develop a comprehensive view of risk exposure and provide recommendations for mitigation.
  • Risk Committee: Participate in risk-related discussions and decision-making processes as required.
  • Review: Conduct thorough reviews of financial data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

 

Business Awareness

The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of the wider business environment, including economic and market trends that impact the organization's operations.

 

Process Management

This role requires close collaboration with Country Finance and R2R controllers to develop and implement effective financial controls and processes.

 

Risk Function

Ensure the periodic reconciliation substantiation exercise is performed smoothly, escalate exceptions or non-compliance to department heads and Country Finance, and support day-to-day controls and monitoring activities.

 

Implementation of Process Controls

Develop and review compliance with financial control policies and compliance monitoring measures to ensure a robust financial control environment.

 

Embedding Controllership Reporting

Implement a reporting model that ensures the end-client is at the center of the process, ensuring efficient and effective delivery.

 

Financial Operational Risk

Identify and present Financial Operational Risk to Senior Management, CFO, Cluster CFO, Reg CFO, and other relevant stakeholders through various Risk Forums.

 

Supporting CFO Declaration

Support the reduction of Group Queries Aris - Process mapping for all L3 processes, implement opportunities identified Sox implementation.

 

Talent Development

Ensure ongoing training and development of people, ensuring holders of critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified, with effective supervision in place to mitigate risks.

 

Setting Job Descriptions and Objectives

Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports, provide feedback and rewards based on performance against those responsibilities and objectives.

 

Risk Management

Ability to interpret financial information, identify key issues, and put in place appropriate controls and measures.

 

Governance

Monitor and ensure Change governance is followed across all transformation initiatives, represent the function at governance forums, and influence decisions on change backlog prioritization.

 

Regulatory Business Conduct

Display exemplary conduct and adhere to the Group's Values and Code of Conduct, taking personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics.

 

Key Stakeholders

Country Finance, GFS Product Control, FM Operations, Business Finance teams.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

Demonstrates proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint, PSGL experience. Effective Communication, Stakeholder management, Problem solving, Analytical skills, Data management, Control mindset. Qualifications: CA CWA. Minimum 5 years of work experience in financial control operational risk functions of FIs internal audit of FIs or external audit from Big 4 firms or over 15 years experience in the FA domain. Candidates with experience in core financial market operations or Retail consumer banking operations preferred.
