Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and reconcile inventory across sales channels, including retail stores, marketplaces (Amazon, Myntra, etc.), and direct-to-consumer websites.
  • Oversee stock movement accounting (inward, outward, returns, damages, inter-store transfers).
  • Ensure accurate valuation of inventory, including landed costs, Goods and Services Tax (GST), freight, and other overheads.
  • Identify inventory discrepancies and coordinate with Operations and Merchandising to resolve issues.
  • Manage vendor payments, reconciliations, and ensure timely settlement of dues.
  • Reconcile sales data with payment gateways, point-of-sale systems, marketplace reports, and internal Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Prepare channel-wise profit-and-loss statements, margin analysis, and profitability reports.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements on inventory and vendor transactions.

Cross-Functional Coordination:

  • Work closely with the Buying team for procurement accounting and vendor reconciliations.
  • Partner with Operations to streamline inventory inward/outward processes and minimize leakages.
  • Collaborate with Retail and Merchandising teams to ensure accurate reporting of sales, returns, and stock levels.
  • Coordinate with auditors for periodic stock audits and statutory audits.

Reporting & Controls:

  • Prepare and publish regular management information system (MIS) reports on inventory positions, slow-moving stock, and shrinkage.
  • Support management with insights for decision-making on buying, replenishment, and stock allocation.
  • Implement stronger financial and operational controls around inventory movement and sales reconciliation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
  • 2-3 years of experience in accounts (preferably semi-qualified Chartered Accountant), with strong exposure to inventory control/reconciliation (retail/direct-to-consumer/marketplace experience preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software (Tally, ERP Next systems) and advanced Excel.
  • Good understanding of taxation and compliance (GST, TDS).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to coordinate across departments and work in a fast-paced environment.
