Job Opportunity: Senior Economist Position

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting in-depth research and analysis, focusing on the Indian market and macroeconomic indicators. Key responsibilities include building econometric models to forecast future trends, analyzing macroeconomic data to identify economic trends, monitoring global economic developments, writing and publishing research commentary, and working on projects relevant to the Indian market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Econometric Modeling: Build and maintain econometric models to forecast future trends and risks.
  • Macroeconomic Analysis: Analyze macroeconomic data (both history and forecasts) to identify economic trends and themes.
  • Global Economic Monitoring: Monitor and assess global economic developments and their potential impact on markets.
  • Research Commentary: Write and publish research commentary to accompany data analysis and discuss market drivers.
  • Macro Projects: Work on macro and market projects of relevance to the Indian market, including secondary research as needed.

Requirements:

  • Education: Master's in Economics/MBA/CFA.
  • Experience: 2-4 years of post-qualification work experience as an Economic Analyst/Macro Strategist/Junior Economist dealing primarily with modeling work and research analysis.
  • Skills: Strong quantitative and mathematical skills, advanced Excel and VBA analytical skills, knowledge of econometrics, and working knowledge of Python or R.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to write research reports and comment on market developments.
  • Database Tools: Knowledge of database tools – Macrobond, CEIC, World Bank, CME and other financial databases; various central bank (RBI) and statistical websites (e.g. MOSPI).
