
Lead Claims Specialist

The Assistant Manager plays a pivotal role in legal and claims management, overseeing various matters related to claims. Key responsibilities include monitoring and managing all legal issues regarding claims, recovery actions, and costs recoverable from third parties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acknowledge receipt of claims within 24 hours of receipt and report to HO with relevant documents.
- Advise on the merits of claims and future steps to be taken, ensuring timely resolution.
- Monitor and assist HO claims, as well as other colleagues, in handling claims and court cases until closure.
- Handle P&I-related matters, including cargo claims, GA & stowage, and third-party damages to containers and cargo.
- Draft and vet Service Agreements, MOUs, and letters of intent, while ensuring compliance with tribunal procedures.
- Provide guidance to branch offices on handling legal issues and provide legal advice to other departments.
- Report monthly on progress and highlight areas requiring intervention.
Core Competencies:
- Minimum graduate degree
- At least 5+ years' experience in the shipping industry, preferably with Cargo/Marine claims experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good analytical skills, reporting skills, and proficiency in Ms.-office tools, especially Excel and Power point.
