Mainframe Developer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Developer to join our team at Selsoftinc. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mainframe technologies, including COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, TSO/ISPF, and DB2 Stored procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, code, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, and other mainframe technologies.
  • Work on integrating mainframe systems with other platforms and technologies as needed.
  • Optimize application performance and ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to mainframe applications and systems.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for application design, development, and maintenance processes.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and develop solutions that meet business needs.
  • Implement best practices for coding, testing, and deployment to ensure high-quality software deliverables.
  • Provide support for production systems, including incident management, problem resolution, and implementing system updates.
Requirements:
  • Experience: [X] years of experience as a Mainframe Developer with a strong understanding of COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and other mainframe technologies.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in mainframe programming languages (e.g., COBOL), job control languages (e.g., JCL), and database management systems (e.g., DB2).
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Application Developer) are a plus.
  • Tools and Technologies: Familiarity with modern development tools and methodologies (e.g., version control systems, Agile/Scrum) is a plus.
  • Experience with Modernization: Experience in mainframe modernization and integration with modern technologies is advantageous.
