**School Support Specialist Role Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced School Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for delivering non-financial education services to affordable private schools in India.

This role is focused on supporting school leaders and teacher mentors in developing their skills and knowledge to improve educational outcomes. You will work closely with our local team and teams across India to achieve this goal.

Responsibilities:
  • Pathways to Excellence
    • Support the development and implementation of a School Self-Assessment and School Development Plan that analyzes school performance against 18 domains of education quality.
    • Work with school development planning teams to identify priority areas for improvement and train school leaders and teachers on provided digital resources.
  • Cluster Development
    • Support the development of a Cluster governance committee with a Cluster Leader, Deputy Cluster Leader, and Cluster Administrator.
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of an annual schedule of Cluster Meetings for school leaders and teacher mentors.
  • School Leader Professional Development
    • Deliver training on leadership and management best practices, including budgeting, marketing, and branding, financial management, staff engagement, and retention.
  • Individualized School-Level Support
    • Provide one-on-one support to school leaders to help them achieve identified priority areas of need and school development plans through regular school visits.
    • Offer effective feedback and guidance to school leaders based on their performance in cluster meetings, submission of quizzes, self-assessment, and school development plans.
  • Teacher Mentor Professional Development
    • Develop mentorship capacity of teachers through Joint Practice Development (JPD) by facilitating independently or collaborating with external trainers.
    • Target the improvement of teacher motivation, subject matter expertise, and pedagogical skills within school clusters and Opportunity International's broader network of schools.
  • Learning, Knowledge Management
    • Document case studies of ongoing effective practices and innovations from the field for dissemination to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Liaise with learning partners as necessary to evaluate effectiveness and impact.
Qualifications:
  • Education and Experience
    • A degree in school-based education or education development, with experience and strong interest in the basic education sector.
    • Post-graduate qualification related to education is preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Strong writing, data collection, and ICT skills, including Microsoft Office, EdTech, learning management systems, data collection tools, mobile tablets, etc.
    • Ability to manage contract negotiations with external vendors and internal work-related expenses.
  • Language Skills
    • Written and verbal fluency in English and Tamil required.
  • Travel Requirements
    • Up to 80 domestic travel required.
