Data Analytics Lead

Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Data Analytics Lead to join the Smart Commerce team and own the entire data charter for various Smart Commerce products. This role requires building the data analytics roadmap for Smart Commerce suite of products and working directly with dedicated product and engineering teams to drive data engineering, analytics, and influence fundamental data decisions.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced and hands-on leader who can thrive in an ambiguous and fast-paced business landscape. You should have deep expertise in analytic views of business questions, building up and refining metrics frameworks to measure business operations, and translating data into meaningful insights.
In this role, you will have ownership of end-to-end analytics development to complex questions and play an integral role in strategic decision-making. You will work closely with business and operations leadership, including executive leadership at Amazon, to define the technical product and provide updates on the program.
Key Responsibilities- Hire, manage, coach, and lead a high-performing team of data engineers, BIEs, and business analysts.
- Build datasets, metrics, and KPIs supporting business goals for the SmartCommerce organization.
- Design, implement, and support end-to-end analytical solutions that are highly available, reliable, secure, and scale economically.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to recognize and help adopt best practices in reporting and analysis, data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
- Report key insight trends using statistical rigor to simplify and inform the larger team of noteworthy findings that impact the business.
- Proactively identify problems and opportunities and perform root cause analysis/diagnosis leading to significant business impact.
- Work closely with business and operations leadership, including executive leadership at Amazon, to define the technical product and provide updates on the program.
- Own reporting for business reviews with leadership.
- Manage all aspects of BI projects such as project planning, requirements definition, risk management, communication, and implementation planning.
- 10+ years of SQL experience.
- Experience programming to extract, transform, and clean large (multi-TB) data sets.
- Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results.
- Experience with AWS technologies.
- Experience in scripting for automation (e.g., Python) and advanced SQL skills.
- Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning, and data mining.
