Job Overview

  • We are seeking a skilled Climate Adaptation Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in climate science, environmental studies, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience in climate adaptation, resilience planning, or a related field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective climate adaptation strategies that align with the Paris Agreement and national development goals.
  • Conduct thorough Climate Vulnerability and Risk Assessments (CVRAs) to identify sectors vulnerable to climate change.
  • Apply advanced climate models and risk analytics to inform strategic planning and prioritization of adaptation responses.
  • Design and size adaptation measures with clear outcomes, implementation timelines, and cost estimates.
  • Evaluate the techno-commercial feasibility of proposed interventions and map relevant financing sources.
  • Support the preparation of funding proposals for climate adaptation, including those targeting international mechanisms.
  • Facilitate inclusive stakeholder consultations to engage government agencies, civil society, and vulnerable groups.
  • Align adaptation strategies with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and national development plans.
  • Develop technical content for reports, presentations, and policy briefs tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Provide policy recommendations to strengthen climate resilience and adaptation integration.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in climate science, environmental studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in climate adaptation, resilience planning, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated involvement in developing or updating Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), Long-Term Low Emissions Development Strategies (LT-LEDS), or National Adaptation Plans (NAPs).
  • Proficiency in conducting CVRAs and translating findings into actionable strategies.
  • Experience working with climate models and interpreting risk projections.
  • Strong grasp of techno-commercial analysis, cost estimation, and financing pathways.
  • Familiarity with climate finance mechanisms.
  • Effective communication, analytical thinking, and facilitation skills.
