Unit Medical Services Head Position

The Unit Medical Services Head plays a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality clinical services at our healthcare facility. This position is responsible for providing strategic direction to medical departments and services, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, and promoting quality monitoring and accreditation.

About the Job:

  • This senior-level position oversees all aspects of medical care, including coordination, supervision, and quality assurance.
  • The incumbent will analyze departmental performance, identify areas for improvement, and develop strategies to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • This role also involves participating in tariff revision, clinical compensation patterns, and analyzing performance of retainers.
  • The Unit Medical Services Head will be responsible for rationalizing doctor costs, surgical, and medical charges while overseeing clinician/clinical-related quality monitoring/accreditation/quality assurance services.
  • This includes coordinating and conducting medical Advisory Board, Clinical HOD Committee, and departmental meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinates and oversees all medical care provided at the unit.
  2. Ensures statutory compliance with MTP, PCPNDT, AERB, Radiation Safety etc.
  3. Analyzes department mix and need for consultants.
  4. Participates in tariff revision and clinical compensation patterns.
  5. Analyzes performance of retainers.
  6. Monitors and rationalizes Doctor costs.
  7. Rationalizes surgical and medical charges.
  8. Responsible for clinician/clinical-related quality monitoring/accreditation/quality assurance services.
  9. Co-ordinates and conducts medical Advisory Board, Clinical HOD Committee, departmental meetings.
  10. To oversee reporting and communication of quality improvement initiatives, quality, and patient safety awareness.
  11. Addresses consultant requirements and recruitment.
  12. Induction, onboarding, credentialing, and privileging consultants.
  13. Maintains personnel files and documents.
  14. Addressing clinical governance issues and initiating appropriate actions.
  15. Reviews and responds to medico-legal cases.
  16. Conducts morality and mortality meetings periodically.
  17. Audits clinical billing codes.
  18. Provides clinical input for medico-legal cases.
  19. Engages with the team through training, performance management, and feedback.
  20. Recommends junior clinical manpower.
  21. Evaluates academic activities and programs.
  22. Ensures doctor training on patient safety and service excellence.
  23. Prepares biomedical equipment capital expenditure budget.
  24. Oversight of medical records department.
  25. Initiates digitization and electronic records.
  26. Conducts awareness programs for service excellence initiatives.
  27. Medical audits and facilitator of JCI/NABH Accreditation.
