Project Estimator Role

We seek an accomplished project estimator with extensive experience in the broadband, telecom, and outside plant sectors.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of industry requirements for all outside plant engineering and construction needs, along with the ability to accurately price projects.

  • They must review customer-provided Request for Proposals (RFP) documents to gain a comprehensive understanding including but not limited to project scope, RFP response requirements, project specifications, project schedule, and customer objectives.
  • The selected candidate will develop detailed estimate and bid preparation templates specifically tailored to each RFP project.
  • A high level of proficiency in Excel is required to build cost breakdowns, schedules, risk registers, preliminary resource plans, and populate client pricing forms pricing sheets for RFP submittals.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to gather necessary project information and ensure accurate estimates.
  • The successful candidate must conduct thorough analysis and research to identify potential cost-saving opportunities and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Effective communication with internal stakeholders is required to present estimates, address inquiries, and provide recommendations as needed.
  • The successful candidate must stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to continuously improve estimating processes and accuracy.
  • Ongoing miscellaneous duties related to estimating may be assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze RFP documents to understand project requirements.
  • Develop customized estimate and bid preparation templates.
  • Utilize Excel to create detailed cost breakdowns and schedules.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather project information.
  • Conduct thorough analysis and research to identify cost-saving opportunities and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Present estimates and provide recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to improve estimating processes.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in estimating within the broadband, telecom, or outside plant industry.
  • Expertise in Excel with the ability to develop complex spreadsheets and models.
  • A self-motivated individual with a strong passion for the industry and a drive for excellence.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with team members and clients.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in commercial and industrial low voltage and/or fiber optic cabling project coordination and estimating is preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, structural drawings, and plan sets.
  • Compliance with and enforcement of risk management policies and safety procedures.
  • Experience preparing budgets for each project is desirable.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, processes, trade practices, and equipment.
  • OSHA 10, 30 Certifications are preferred.
  • Proficiency in using software suites such as Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and communication skills in English.
