Job Title: Senior Cloud Native Database Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Native Database Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our database group, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex data systems that support millions of customers using Cloud Native principles and best practices.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Aurora PostgreSQL database performance and scalability, as well as complex query tuning, monitoring, and incident response. You will also be responsible for planning and deploying database infrastructure, performing upgrades and migrations as needed, and contributing to infrastructure changes on AWS.

In addition, you will manage complex data replication environments serving batch and real-time use cases, engage in on-call rotations for production systems, and contribute to major system upgrades, deployment automation, and monitoring enhancements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain complex data systems using Cloud Native principles and best practices
  • Plan and deploy database infrastructure, perform upgrades and migrations as needed
  • Resident expert in Aurora PostgreSQL database performance and scalability
  • Manage complex data replication environments serving batch and real-time use cases
  • Contribute to infrastructure changes on AWS
  • Engage in on-call rotations for production systems
  • Contribute to major system upgrades, deployment automation, and monitoring enhancements
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related technical field
  • 8+ years of hands-on development and operational experience with Postgres (AWS Aurora Postgres)
  • Experience with AWS Data Migration Service
  • Extensive performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and tuning experience
  • Experience with AWS services and hands-on knowledge of hosting on cloud
  • Experience with any one of the programming languages for Devops automation: Java/Python/Shell
  • Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes, Splunk, Wavefront is a plus
