Operations Manager

Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain relationships with companies, vendors, and stakeholders to source high-quality raw materials.
  • Manage the segregation of scrap according to quality standards.
  • Oversee site-level production teams to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Develop sales strategies for recyclers and manufacturers.
  • Collaborate with partners to enhance feedstock value through washing or granulation.
  • Establish a market for Polyolefins-HDPE and PP products.
  • Ensure factory compliance and manage profit/loss accounts.
  • Implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for plastic waste aggregation, segregation, QA/QC, and inspection.
  • Continuously improve SOPs to optimize performance using Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Identify and implement key projects and kaizens to increase productivity and meet targets.
  • Guarantee timely project implementation within approved budgets.
Reporting and Documentation:
  • Provide regular, concise reports on daily, weekly, and monthly progress on prescribed formats.
  • Standardize machine inspection check sheets, pre-dispatch check sheets, and operation check sheets at the site level.
  • Ensure segregation is carried out according to required quality standards.
General Responsibilities:
  • Maintain professionalism and prioritize workload effectively.
  • E nsure adherence to Plastics For Change policies, SOPs, and protocols across all company levels.
  • Maintain data confidentiality and security.
  • Be willing to travel frequently across site locations, sometimes at short notice, as needed by the project or company.
  • Collaborate closely with the Plastics For Change team and partners.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Chemical/Mechanical/Plastics Engineering degree; MBA would be an added advantage.
  • 5-7 years of experience in Operations.
  • Effective sales/customer relationship management skills, negotiation skills, vendor/stakeholder management skills, and strong networking abilities.
  • Good understanding of plastics and plastic recycling.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects while focusing the team and driving results.
  • Excellent people management skills.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the mission of Plastics For Change.
  • Fluency in English and Tamil; Hindi would be advantageous.
