Job Title: COBOL IDMS Application Specialist

The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing and documenting the functionality, processes, and data structures of existing COBOL DB2/IDMS applications. This role requires a deep understanding of COBOL programming language, CICS BMS, DB2, and IDMS databases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Application Analysis: Analyze and document the functionality, processes, and data structures of existing COBOL DB2/IDMS applications.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with business and technical teams to gather and understand system requirements, workflows, and dependencies.
  • Data Modeling: Design and structure data models for migrating COBOL applications from DB2/IDMS to target database, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
  • Migration Strategy: Develop a comprehensive data migration strategy to transfer data from DB2/IDMS to target database, including data mapping, transformation rules, and validation.
  • Testing and Validation: Perform testing and validation of the migrated data, resolving discrepancies and ensuring system functionality post-migration.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Certified Professional: Strong experience with COBOL programming language and CICS BMS.
  • In-Depth Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of DB2 and IDMS databases.
  • Legacy System Expertise: Proven expertise in analyzing and documenting legacy COBOL DB2 applications.
  • Migration Expertise: Experience in data migration strategies, particularly to IDMS.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
