Furniture Design Specialist – Global Perspective

We're seeking a skilled Furniture Designer who can merge creativity with research-driven insights to develop innovative product lines in dining, seating, and case goods. This role involves studying customer preferences through past sales data, social media, and international market trends.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct in-depth research on customer preferences, analyzing past sales data, social media, and global market trends to inform design decisions.
  • Create original design concepts in solid wood that align with our export strengths, focusing on unique styles, finishes, and ergonomics.
  • Draft production-ready drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp, Rhino, or similar CAD tools to ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Collaborate closely with merchandising and sourcing teams to translate design concepts into viable collections that meet export standards.
  • Work with prototyping teams to refine joinery, finishes, ergonomics, and structural integrity, ensuring high-quality products that meet customer expectations.
  • Incorporate KD (knock-down) joinery, export packaging standards, and compliance requirements to ensure seamless shipping and delivery.
  • Develop design boards, line sheets, and client presentations for export buyers, highlighting the unique features and benefits of our products.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Essential Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in furniture design, preferably in solid wood.
  • Strong skills in CAD tools, including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp, Rhino, and other industry-standard software.
  • Knowledge of global furniture trends, ergonomics, finishing techniques, and joinery to create innovative and competitive designs.
  • Ability to effectively communicate design ideas and plans to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Bonus Skills and Experience
  • Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience working with reclaimed or sustainable wood materials to create eco-friendly and socially responsible designs.
  • Familiarity with export-oriented furniture markets, including knowledge of packaging and shipping requirements.
  • Understanding of American and European design preferences to tailor products to specific markets.
