Subsurface Expert

As a Senior Petrophysicist in our subsurface technical community, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality petrophysical analysis that integrates with geological and engineering data.

• You will build subsurface descriptions that underpin exploration and field development across the global portfolio.
• With your technical and business skills, you will develop appropriate subsurface scenarios, characterise and communicate subsurface uncertainties, and use this knowledge to plan and deliver fit-for-purpose technical products.
• Clear communication of subsurface uncertainty to colleagues and business leaders is essential for developing risk management and mitigation plans.
• As a Senior Petrophysicist, you will promote responsible performance, demonstrate strong individual and leadership behaviours, and coach and mentor others.
• Must have:
  • Advanced Degree (MA, MSc or PhD) in geology, geophysics, reservoir engineering, or other relevant science-based curriculum.
• Minimum years of experience:
  • 12 years of relevant petrophysics experience in an integrated oil and gas company, working in exploration, field appraisal, development, production or well planning.
• Key skills:
  • Highly proficient in well log interpretation packages, such as Techlog and Petrel.
  • Experience with cased and open hole logging tools and interpretation methods, including advanced logs like image logs, NMR, tri-axial resistivity, formation pressures, fluid sample acquisition and analysis.
  • Knowledge of reservoir quality from core, including routine core analysis, petrography, mercury injection data, grain size analysis, relative permeability etc.
  • Able to construct rock type descriptions to match and predict from log-based measurements.
  • Experience with petrophysical models and facies schemes for geological model building.
  • Skilled in characterising and communicating subsurface uncertainty, risk and value.
  • Committed to data and knowledge management, sharing best practices and technical skills across multiple disciplines and teams.
  • Collaborative team player with a proven track record of delivery.
  • Ability to support multiple work fronts concurrently, prioritising delivery appropriately.
  • Desire to develop and learn new skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
