Visual Effects Supervisor

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled FX Supervisor to lead our team of FX Artists at DNEG.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day production needs, supervising the FX team in both technical and artistic aspects of visual effects production, and ensuring the highest-quality photorealistic simulations of FX are produced. They will work closely with Producer, VFX Supervisor, Head of FX, and other departmental supervisors.

About You

  • You have a minimum of 10 years' experience as an FX TD and previous experience as an FX Supervisor.
  • You possess extensive knowledge of Houdini and have proven experience in producing effects such as smoke, fire, clouds, water, steam, and explosions, plus experience with particle and voxel-based rendering.
  • You have an eye for detail, good sense of timing, and thorough understanding of techniques and technologies relating to physical simulation in computer graphics.
  • You are familiar with pipeline issues and problem-solving, experienced in project management, balancing quality with time constraints, and have high-level feature film experience in live-action VFX films.
  • You are also experienced in leading and training teams of FX Artists, with excellent artistic and technical skills, and the ability to provide artistic and technical solutions to the Effects Team.

Requirements

  • A minimum salary of $120,000 per annum.
  • Knowledge of Python, Hscript, or Mel is nice to have.
  • Experience in live-action FX work is preferred.
  • Maya and/or equivalent 3D software knowledge is beneficial.
