Database Administrator Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced professional to play a key role in upgrading, migrating, and maintaining mission-critical databases. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL Server upgrades, Always On Availability Groups, and cloud migrations.

About the Role

This is a high-profile project that requires exceptional skills in database administration. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and executing SQL Server upgrade projects, designing, configuring, and managing Always On Availability Groups in production environments, planning and implementing database migrations to AWS with minimal downtime, and monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing SQL Server performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • SQL Server Upgrade Projects: Lead and execute SQL Server upgrade projects, including migration from legacy versions to SQL Server 2022.
  • Always On Availability Groups: Design, configure, and manage Always On Availability Groups (HA/DR) in production environments.
  • Database Migrations: Plan and implement database migrations to AWS (RDS, EC2, or other services) with minimal downtime.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize SQL Server performance (queries, indexes, statistics, execution plans).
  • Backup and Recovery: Perform regular backups, restores, and disaster recovery testing.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to ensure database reliability and efficiency.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain documentation, including runbooks and standard operating procedures.
  • Security: Ensure compliance with security standards, policies, and best practices.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise environments.
  • Proven experience upgrading SQL Server to 2022 in production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Always On Availability Groups and other HA/DR solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS database migration (DMS, RDS, EC2, or hybrid solutions).
  • Proficiency in T-SQL development, performance tuning, and query optimization.
  • Solid understanding of backup/recovery strategies and database security.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell or automation tools for database administration is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
