Data Engineering Leadership Opportunity

Ameriprise Financial is seeking a highly skilled Data Engineering Leader to join its team. As a key member of the organization, this leader will play a crucial role in guiding the data engineering team towards innovation and excellence.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Propel the development process by integrating CI/CD automation, ensuring smooth and rapid deployment, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency.
  • Implement FinOps best practices to optimize cloud costs, manage budgets, and drive cost efficiency across all data engineering activities.
  • Direct the complete lifecycle of the data pipeline to satisfy business needs, from data ingestion and ETL to provisioning and visualization.
  • Manage the process of data delivery on teams by overseeing other data engineers and analysts to deliver on-time, accurate, high-value, robust data solutions across multiple clients, solutions, and industry sectors.
  • Pioneer the adoption of Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices within the team, boosting quality and efficiency.
  • Foster a vibrant, agile development atmosphere, championing agile methodologies with a steadfast customer-first mentality.
  • Lead and participate on data management aspects, deep knowledge of working on industry-standard reference data tools will be a big plus.
  • Design efficient data pipelines meeting organizational standards.
  • Effectively collaborate with other verticals in the technology organization, such as Investments Technology, Data Science, and Analytics teams.
  • Solution integration by using existing patterns, working with architects to define new patterns, where applicable, delivering, testing, and interfacing with internal data operations and business teams.
  • Leverage expertise of data and technical resources within the team and region, providing mentorship and guidance to multiple teams and product areas.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience with AWS technologies, such as S3, EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift, and Glue.
  • Proficient in SQL and programming languages like Python.
  • Deep understanding of data pipeline and workflow management tools.
  • Deep understanding of test-driven development (TDD) and API design.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, algorithmic skills, and data structures.
  • Experience in agile methodologies like Scrum, Kanban, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior executives.
