Design Engineer Role for Steel and Metal Furniture

This position is focused on designing, developing, and prototyping innovative furniture pieces made from steel, aluminum, and other metals. Our goal is to create high-quality products that meet customer needs while ensuring durability, stability, and aesthetic appeal.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks.
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure designs are practical and feasible for production.
  • Analyze the structural integrity of steel furniture to guarantee its reliability and safety.
  • Select materials and finishes based on cost, functionality, and aesthetic considerations.
  • Research trends in furniture design and material innovation.
  • Develop prototypes for testing and modify designs based on feedback.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for sourcing materials and components.
  • Evaluate designs against safety standards, environmental regulations, and company specifications.
  • Prepare cost estimates for production, assembly, and materials.
  • Communicate with the marketing team to understand customer needs and incorporate feedback into designs.
  • Produce technical documentation and design presentations for stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Design Engineer in the steel furniture industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of material properties, particularly steel and other metals.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes for steel furniture (welding, cutting, bending, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A strong portfolio of previous design work is a plus.

Experience working in the steel furniture industry is essential for this role.
