Job Title: GIS Developer

About This Role

We are seeking a skilled professional to fill the position of GIS Developer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in GIS development and be proficient in ESRI ArcGIS Suite, as well as experience with spatial databases, programming languages and web development frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop and maintain custom GIS applications and web-based mapping solutions.
  • Analyze user requirements to develop and optimize geospatial workflows and tools.
  • Integrate GIS applications with various enterprise systems and APIs.
  • Develop scripts and tools for data automation, analysis and processing using Python/ArcPy.
  • Perform spatial data modeling, geoprocessing and complex spatial analysis.
  • Maintain and optimize spatial databases e.g., PostGIS, SQL Server with spatial extensions.
  • Create interactive maps, dashboards and visualizations using tools like ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS or Mapbox.
  • Conduct performance tuning, testing and documentation of GIS solutions.
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for GIS-related issues and enhancements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in GIS development.
  • Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS Suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online).
  • Experience migrating Geocortex Essentials and custom HTML 5 web applications into ESRI's JavaScript API version 4.
  • Experience working in VertiGIS Studio Suite of tools and ESRI Experience Builder.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, JavaScript (Leaflet/ArcGIS API for JS), or .NET for GIS applications.
  • Experience with spatial databases: PostGIS, SQL Server, Oracle Spatial.
  • Hands-on experience with FME, GDAL, or other ETL/data transformation tools.
  • Knowledge of web development frameworks and APIs (REST/SOAP).
  • Experience integrating GIS with other enterprise systems (ERP, CRM).
  • Familiarity with open-source GIS platforms (QGIS, GeoServer, MapServer) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications in GIS (e.g., Esri Technical Certification).
  • Experience working with cloud GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS Enterprise on AWS/Azure).
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
