Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Sustainability Lead for Operations and Safety to join our Operations team at SEDEMAC.

The primary role of the candidate is to:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety rules and regulations, reviewing and updating the legal register as necessary.
  • Coordinate the submission of all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) related statutory returns within the designated timelines.
  • Oversee EHS-related statutory inspections, including lifting tools and tackles, pressure vessels, ventilation surveys, illumination surveys, noise level monitoring, wastewater analysis, drinking water analysis, and more.
  • Monitor environmental releases, such as stack emissions, ambient air quality monitoring, noise levels, and waste management.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, follow up on corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinate and conduct EHS training for employees according to the planned schedule.
  • Prepare and update EHS-related policies, procedures, formats, registers, and checklists.
  • Coordinate with various departments for completing corrective actions and maintaining records.
  • Organize Emergency Response Team training and Mock Drills.
  • Prepare and update JSA, HIRA, aspect impact registers.
  • Coordinate Safety Committee Meetings and plant rounds.
  • Monitor the Work Permit system and ensure its adherence.
  • Manage Hazardous Waste and related compliances.
  • Assist in managing Flammable Liquids and Hazardous chemicals.
  • Ensure the availability and monitored use of personal protective equipment (PPE's).
  • Coordinate First Aid training and maintain First Aid Box and equipment availability.

Desired Technical Skills

We are looking for candidates who can:

  • Ensure the operational, maintenance, and periodic testing of portable fire extinguishers, fire hydrants, Sprinklers, Detection, MCP, and PAS systems.
  • Operate and troubleshoot STP plant facilities.
  • Plan, coordinate, and participate in EHS Audits and inspections.
  • Identify and evaluate hazards, analyze them, plan control measures, and frequently review these measures. Prepare documents for JSA and HIRA.
  • Document safety inspections, highlighting dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures to mitigate potential hazards.
  • Implement and document machine and equipment safety provisions (Guards, interlocks etc.).

  • Strong sense of ethics.

Education

We require candidates with a degree in one of the following fields:

  • B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc in Environment Science.
  • Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (MSBTE).

Experience

A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a similar role is required.
