Job Overview: Engineering Manager

The role of an Engineering Manager is to lead and manage engineering teams, overseeing the project lifecycle and assisting the Project Manager. This position plays three key roles: Manager, Technical Leader, and Communicator.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a clear scope of work, ensuring effective change management throughout the project.
  • Provide regular progress updates, highlighting design progress and identifying potential issues that may impact project objectives.
  • Assist in developing the project execution plan, allocating roles and responsibilities effectively among team members.
  • Maintain strong communication with client management, ensuring that engineering deliverables meet their requirements.
  • Oversight of engineering activities, reviewing work quality and conducting technical development programs for team members.
  • Collaborate with specialist experts, both internally and externally, as required, to ensure compliance with engineering standards and procedures.
  • Implement safety principles into the design process and conduct risk assessments to identify potential issues.
  • Organize design reviews, participate in engineering and management reviews, and coordinate quality audits to ensure adherence to engineering standards and internal procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Typically 12-15 years of experience in a multi-disciplinary environment on major projects.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing design engineering teams for large-scale projects.
  • Postgraduate or graduate degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Registration as a professional engineer with the governing authority (preferable).
