Senior Model Governance Specialist

Job Description

As a Senior Model Governance Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective management of our model risk framework. You will be responsible for providing guidance and oversight on model development, implementation, and maintenance, as well as identifying and mitigating risks associated with models and algorithms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of our model governance framework, including reviewing and challenging model design, data sourcing, and performance evaluation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that model risks are understood and appropriately managed throughout the entire lifecycle.
  • Conduct regular reviews of model performance and identify areas for improvement, working closely with stakeholders to develop and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, technical teams, and regulatory bodies, to ensure that our model governance practices are aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide expert advice on model risk management, including quantitative assessment and control mitigation strategies.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in model risk management, preferably in a financial institution or related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, including Basel III and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets and identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform strategic decisions.
  • Certifications in risk management, such as FRM or PRMIA, are highly desirable.
