Operation Theatre Assistant

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting anaesthesiologists and nurses in preparing patients for anaesthesia administration.
  • Setting up and calibrating anaesthesia equipment, including monitors, ventilators, and intravenous lines.
  • Preparing and administering medications under the guidance of licensed healthcare professionals.
  • Monitoring patient vital signs, such as heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and end-tidal CO2 levels during procedures.

Collaboration with the surgical team to ensure patient comfort and safety throughout procedures is crucial. This involves responding quickly and effectively to any changes in patient condition or equipment malfunction. Maintaining accurate records of procedures, medications administered, and patient responses is essential. The anaesthesia workspace must be kept clean and organized to ensure the availability of necessary supplies and equipment. Infection control protocols and a sterile environment must be adhered to at all times.

Qualifications include holding a B Sc OT Anaethesia Technology or relevant qualification. Experience in the field ranges from 0 to 5 years.

Required skills and qualifications include strong communication and teamwork skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and knowledge of anaesthesia technology and techniques. A full-time, permanent position is available.
